Being the immense timesucking entity it is there are tons and tons of inane distractions available on facebook. i try to avoid the truly retarded ones like, how Michigan are you or what type of peanut butter are you or whatever ridiculous bullshit people try to pass off as interesting. But now and then there are some little quizzes that peak my interest. There has been the which disney pixar character are you(wall-e) which psychological disorder are you (ADHD) and a few others but today i came across two that made me feel kinda good. First, which mythical creature are you. turns out I'm a dragon, and having a personal high regard for dragons and what they represent it made me feel pretty good! not only ferociousness and great strength but great wisdom and respect. things i value greatly. the next was how old a soul are you. turns out I'm a very old soul, alot of been there done that jokes come to mind but someone who truly believes in this sort of thing definitely put some heartfelt effort into this quiz (that's my opinion anyway). it helped me realize why i do some of the things i do, and if it's true it does explain how i know some of the things i know. all in all a (if nothing else superficially)somewhat enlightening experience.

Till later

THOR

KABOOM

New Philosophy

And my new philosophy is " It's not what you can buy, but what you can build that matters" I just read this, and what a cool statement. Training balance, flowing one technique into the next, smoothly transfering from one move into the next, kinda like the way an avalanch flows down a mountain. It rolls and flows over itself, adjusts to the contour of the mountain and pretty much decimates everything in it's path. Not a bad analogy for martial arts in my opinion.
I know that fighting isn't civalized or pretty or predictable. I can make it gracefull and balanced and flowing though. I mean why not. it's my life on the line why not make my version of thumpitude a little mor gracefull than..than that drunk chick on the dance floor at the bar that one weekend, you know the one she couldn't even walk but man she could dance, right off the floor and into the speaker tower ending her manouver under the table. Round of applause for Lisa (every bar in the world has a drunk skanky woman passed out under a table named Lisa. come on everyone knows that)
That was a little off topic. Back to my point, I have a unique situation whereas I have studied Kung-fu ( Which litterally means HARD WORK! ok hard work over time to develop skill. Not some foofy dancy fighting style that only works if your 5'1" and 95lbs) with some very experienced teachers, military types and such. There Kung-fu looked less like Bruce Lee and more like these guys. there is definately a degree of Thumpitude in the flow of what they tought me.
So remember kids, the word is "Thumpitude"

it's so greecy

So I watched Mama Mia! a few weeks ago, the musical based on the music of ABBA. After watching this surprisingly entertaining piece of work I came to two conclusions; First, Pierce Brosnan should never sing, and Second, I need to go to Greece. The weather, the culture, the history. All good things in my opinion.
After coming to this revelation and sharing it with no one my darling
Wonder Woman tells me that there is a charity marathon to be held in, you guessed it, Greece. The charity is diabetes and the amount needed is about $6,000.00 , and not to mention the ability to RUN a marathon.(not walk, not ride a bike, not drive drinking a Slurpee with the air conditioning on listening to your favorite "jam" on the radio. RUN)
Fund raising for a cause like diabetes is a noble affair all on it's own, and training to be able to run a marathon would definitely be a big boost to my, I can do anything, factor. throw in the fact that I could get to go to Greece in the beginning of winter and I think I have found something to drive me, physically, spiritually, and sexually.( I mean come on, being able to run a marathon and taking a vacation at the same time, as if my wife isn't gonna have a bit of an uncomfortable tingle on the plane ride home. I AM THOR, "your thor, I can't even pith")
I'm bracing myself for all the "you gotta be nut's" and "you'll never do it" comments. AND didn't have to wait to get a job either. my work practicum employer hired me before my two week work evaluation was over!

Yea I kinda kick ass.

Now I want to get a welder for myself, perhaps something like this.
and a torch setup, something like this. Then I'll be in business, literally.

I could write about how awsome my wife is but since she's sitting right here to make her crazy I won't!

Her usefull tips on grammer and spellelening are MY FAVORITE!!!

that's about it fer now OH MY FRICKEN GOD MY WIFE'S INSANE.

I LOVE HER REGARDLESS, that kinda makes me insane as well i guess

till later

THOR!
KABOOM!!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://thorshelmut.blogspot.com/2009/03/oh-my-god-where-have-i-been.html' title='OH my GOD! Unfortunately yesterday 2008 looks exactly the same as today2009. the changing of a number on a calender doesn't really signify a great new spiritual start or re awakening or new beginning or chance to start again.
Whatever it may be. A diet, exercise routine, relationship commitment, financial goal, whatever. You don't need a new year to do any of those things, you just need to do it. Get off your ass and do it, anytime.
I heard once that your fate is set, the time you spend on this planet is already decided, you have no control over that. What you do have control over is how you spend that time. The scale of your life is set so being a coward serves no one.
So, with that in mind, BEGIN! whatever it is, take the step on your journey whenever you feel brave enough, or even when you don't. Do it 'cause being a coward serves no one!
Whatever that thing may be, make sure it's something you WANT to do, not something you think you "should" do. I've found that whenever the word "should" pops into your head it always sounds like someone elses voice. Like someone telling you to call them, and then you tell yourself , "I SHOULD call them" when you know in your gut nothing will be gained, and in your head no good will come from talking to them, but the should pressure is there.
So again make sure you do what is best for you, not selfish, just best for you.
And if your start fizzles, start again. you don't need a reason, or special date, or traumatic experience to begin anything, just begin, quit whining and get on with it.

until later
THOR

everything

In the course of things lately I've found a great deal of happiness and satisfaction in going with the flow. By this I mean I've let go of trying to get what I want and decided to go where the universal river takes me (by universal river I might mean god, i might mean fate, i might mean chi, i probably mean all these things . They're all the same thing as far as i've found.) .Becoming a profesional welder is what I'm doing right now, it all came about very definately as what I'm supposed to be doing and in doing so I've become happier, wealthier, healthier and more available to my family, pets and friends. if that ain't a sign I'm doing the right thing I don't know what would be.
Please don't take this as meaning i'm some flake who chants at flowers and meditates to the sound of a cherrub peeing in a pond ( read my last post ) I did have to take hold of the oppertunities as they came my way, but trusting in the fact that by bieng a good person and following the signs that came my way and taking pleasure in the little bits of the world that I happen to see, life has become pretty enjoyable and quite relaxing, not the stressfull angry existance I was dealing with. I know that women get hit, I know that the main reason they get hit is because some insacure asshole needs to prove his manhood by hitting, and this same insacure asshole doesn't have the spine to face the real source of his insacurity, or the balls to challeng a real man to prove himself. When I say real man I don't mean some testosterone fueled meathead, I'm talking about the kind of man my grandfather was, opening doors for ladies, saying please and thank you. The kind of man I try to be, knowing right from wrong, loving with all i have, bieng respectfull, crying when needed, and not hesitating for a moment to rip the head off anything that threatens the things I love.

This leads me to the sheepdogs. I found a thing that describes people as one of three types. Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs.

Sheep are described as USEFULL, Productive members of sociaty who would only hurt another sheep by accident, they also live in denial about violence.

Wolves are described as using violence to meet their needs, they prey upon the sheep with no hesitation to harm, maim or kill to satisfy their cravings.

Sheepdogs are described as having the gift of aggresion, understanding that violence exists, willing to defend self and family, and having the ability to use force aginst wolves never sheep.

Sheepdogs are often found in law enforcement, the military or the martial art comunity. Sheepdogs often make the sheep uncomfortable because they remind them that the wolves are out there. They also make the sheep uncomfortable because they have fangs like the wolf, fur like the wolf, and are constantly looking for the oppertunity to engage the wolf in battle...The very thing the sheep fear.

I'm pretty sure that if more people were a bit more dogged about defending themselves and a little less sheepish towards violance, the wolves would have a lot harder time staying wolves. It doesn't take much to stop a violent crime, especially against women, since the majority of violence against women is about controll. If a woman shows that SHE'S in control of herself and confidant in herself usually violence doesn't happen. From a personal standpoint, The one person who is always gonna be there if something bad is going to happen to me ,the one person who has the most to gain by defending me, the one person who has the most to lose by standing by and not defending me is ME. If you don't take a vested interest in keeping yourself safe why would anyone else, and regardless of wether they do the only person that is garuanteed to be there if you need defending is you.

Thats all for now, I'm going to bed.

saturday night woo hoo

It's 7:39 pm saturday night, and i just tried to find a funny picture of some drunk folk to link to and it made me kinda sad.

So heres this WAY back when.
I know now that I learn things 100 times faster if I get to DO something, screw it up a few times and finally get it right on my own, rather then read about it, be told about it and then be expected to have it perfect first try. I've gained this insight from experience and a vacuum cleaner commercial. The vacuum cleaner was a Dyson and what the commercial said was that they screwed up about 500 times before they got it right. This made me think about the things I did well and I realized that the stuff I was good at, I mean REALLY good at, I had spent alot of time doing, and mostly doing poorly before I got good at it.
Getting back to the Schooling part, today was the first day in the shop. All we did was light a torch, but we had to prove we could do it using proper as tought procedures. I realized that the first try is always going to be flawed somehow, and I mean the first try of anything simply because it's new and foriegn (The quote " the best teacher is experience" holds true, no matter what the new thing is.) but I now like screwing stuff up a bit when something's new, it means I'm human and can develop my own way of doing things. I appreciate the fact that there's less waste in the world if people screw up less stuff, but that's the end result. Not the first try. I've come to enjoy the process of learning instead of hating being tought stuff. Being tought never worked on me because deep down I wanted to mess things up a bit and see what happened, learn from my mistakes.
I really apprecite the opertunity I have right now to grow in who I am and get rid of some of the crap I've been carrying around since high school. honestly I didn't know I was carrying it until I went back to school but now I'm quite glad to lay that bag of bull$#!% down and light it on fire on the principals doorstep.

P.S. have I mentioned how much I love my wife for putting up with me, and the fact that she's HOT

My money rant

Hre's my bit on the evils of money. As some may know I have recently Quit working to become a student, so I can get a better job, a career to be exact ( enough of this working a JOB crap.). And knowing that I have a great support system behind me,i.e. family and stuff, I knew finances wouldn't be too much of a stresser. Shit was I wrong. (it's amazing the level of stress one can get used too and accept as normal) It's only been about two weeks without a paycheck and all would seem fine, it wasn't. The feeling of not being able to pay the bills and take care of my family was slowly weighing down on me. By now some of you might be thinking " why wouldn't you have all that taken care of with savings BEFORE you quit working." or " why didn't you get a student loan " .Well I thought I had the financial part worked out with E.I. helping and the word of my former work saying they'd lay me off. Nope on both. Student loan it was I guess.

The reason this is all coming out like this is, I got my student loan papers back today saying yes they'd give me money. The relief I felt actually brought tears to my eyes. ( even bruce lee {my dog} came over and gave some love) Knowing that some money was going to come in and allow me to continue my training/schooling AND pay bills without having to scramble and scrape for the money is a big relief.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that not having enough money to take care of your loved ones is a bit too much stress for a comfort loving taurus like me. not too much stress to not take the sketchy road for the aries in me.

Thank you out there whoever provided for me this great relief of money. thanks.

And now, let the lightshow begin

deep thoughts

It's not the size of the helmut, it's whats in it that matters.
late She was an uppity, snoot of an old englishwoman who had no desire to teach if there was any type of problem.
I'll explain this a bit more, it involves a bit o' background though so bare :) with me, when I was nine my family moved from B.C. to Sask. In B.C. skool I was still printing everything, in Sask. skool they were writing everything. I had missed a valuable step in there somewhere, the learning HOW to write part. bringing me to my english class dilema Everyone said my writing was awfull, especially miss snooty pants, and nobody did anything to help me relearn. so there I was, messy writing, not too sure how to fix it on my own, getting POUNDED with statements like, That writings attrocious, why don't you just print, you'll hafto redo everything because I can't read that, and my alltime favorite, I think your functionally illiterate with writing like that ( that one was my Mom).
So i did what any self respecting defiant teenager would. I left it messy.
I've come to realize that now in my later mid thirty's that my writing's not messy or illegable it's just quite unique. all my h's look the same all my n's look the same all my everything's look the same they just don't all look like everybody else's.
The reason this little outburst comes up is beecause in my current career choice I am taking a "life skills" module in my welding course and all the old walls and issues that i havn't had to deal with for twenty years or so are showing their stupid heads again.
My beautiful wife was the first, and only, person to ever say they liked my writing. I'm deciding to join her in that opinion, I like my writing too.
I really don't want a career where writing skill is a priority, I just want all the voices in my head to shut up and quit bothering me about it. I mean if i'm gonna write stuff down it's gonna be for me to look at so why not make it look the way I want.
OK i'm done and did I mention my wife's hot :)

first things first

Now that I have my own blog (kindof a stupid thing to call the space where you anonymously express yourself, sounds alot like blob, as in blob of poo, but thats just me) i'm gonna let my inner babler out. the ramblings here will cover the subjects of Me, my WonderWoman Wife, my fam damily, Friends (with friends like this who needs enema's, always thought that line was funny), pets, motorcycles, martial arts, mayhem, hoolaginism of many sorts, and on and on etc. etc.
I don't expect this site to become popular or famous although I should be, but i'm not so i'llljust pretend I am.
